I used to run these back in the day. Just plain solid. I wanna say they still are but I think by todays standards.. I also threw Vampiric embrace on them. That got fun.

They still work as reliable blockers.

Lim-Dûl's High Guard with an extra toughness and better supported creature types. Nice.

No one else thinks this art is terrifying? Because it is. It is also awesome.

It's a Zombie and a Knight. Both are great tribes with a ton of support. It's got an off-color ability with First-strike. Adding Regeneration takes this above the curve for efficiency. This is actually a damn good creature.
You could do any number of tricks with this card. From the obvious lords like Haakon, Stromgald Scourge, Knight Exemplar, or Cemetery Reaper. You could use it as a stable survivor in a deck with Call to the Grave.
The point is, this card doesn't have some ridiculous ability some some of the ridiculous cards we have out now, but is fits so many deck types so well. It's just a great card. At least a solid 4/5.
EDIT: @tavaritz, was talking about First Strike buddy.

This is definitely decent, but first strike and regen kinda clash, since first strike often invalidates the need to regenerate. Plus it has to compete with Vampire Nighthawk nowadays...

Neat art, decently costed creature. First strike and regeneration? The only real mark against this guy is that vampire nighthawk is ridiculous in comparison. Still, even by today's standards, this guy isn't that bad. Not ridiculously overpowered, but still a solid creature at the worst.

Still printable and decent today. Two good abilities. Great with equipments, good with enchantments, good to keep pumps (such as virulent swipe handy) and can really hold the ground. I think I'll nab some to get my fatties out.

Clearly, abacus. Because this was, at one point, pretty decent.
