It's true that Furnace of Rath is better in terms of damage, but the vapors add a huge advantage in five star, or against any deck that doesn't run red. it doesn't deal as much damage, but it assures you in most situations that you won't have to worry about getting your ass handed to you from your opponents damage. Although, the furnace gets even deadlier as you go up on the instant/sorcery food chain. Personally i'd rather have a 10 damage, Lava Axe than a six damage one, but thats just me lol

This can be better than furnace sometimes, but usually in those scenarios Pyromancer's Swath is better than both.

I personaly think Furnace of Rath gives a better edge to burn decks, but its also more risky.

great in red burn decks... i've faced extremely aggressive white/red decks with this being the main strategy with circle of protection: Red sideboarded in for mirror matches

So it's a four mana card that does nothing on it's own? And once in play, it enhances your (well, anyone's) red instants and sorceries by the smallest increment printable on a non-silver-bordered card? Terrible.

A burn deck should be winning the game with a card like Ball Lightning or Char by the time it has the mana up to cast Sulfuric Vapors. Red decks already lack ways of keeping their hands loaded, so why play a card that's going to be a dead draw off the top of your deck? Playing a more powerful finishing spell in the same slot will just end the game immediately, rather than requiring you to draw this enchantment, tap out to play it, and then wait to draw an actual burn spell.
