Has been my favorite art-concept in Magic for a long time. I agree with Zulp that there should be more steampunk-type weapons in Magic. Sure, they show up in Red sometimes, but they tend to be subverted because of the red flavor associated with them ("Those crazy goblins and their wacky devices!" That kind of thing)

I started magic with Portal: The Second Age. I loved the swords and sorcery, and this guy was my favorite card. He just looked amazing. A knight clad in bright armor, dual wielding a keen sword and a smoking pistol. Looking back now, I know he was underpowered for a white card with no effects, but that's how Portal was. It was a magic for beginners, and it was perfect for me as a kid. 5 out of 5 for Nostalgia.

In terms of what you're buying for a four drop, he's not that great. But then most portal cards were sub-par intentionally. The few cards from portal that accidentally were powerful were just that, accidents.

I've seen so much hate on other Second Age cards for having guns and "taking away from the feel". Which I think is damn silly. Dominaria has gone through three separate medieval eras before everything went all post apocalypse. Thousands of years of innovation and development. But nobody has developed fire arms? Nobody's technical innovations moved into Renascence era building? Its not like the societies of Dominaria have replaced all their technology with magic. Magic users are uncommon. You get maybe one shamans or cleric or mage in a village.

So yeah. There's my rant. Meh card. Great artwork.
