The CoPs were not the only white enchantments with activation costs in Alpha. There was also Blessing and Holy Armor. But the Circles were seen as broken in the early days (and the moxen were just dumb artifacts).

One of the most brutal color-hosers ever printed. Dropping this turn 1-2, with some help from Dark Ritual, can completely ruin some decks.

Wow that's specific. Apparently it's been errataed into affecting all white enchantment activated abilities; I assume the Circles of Protection were the only ones back then in Alpha?
Back in Alpha this would be great to keep Circle of Protection: Black from preventing your damage. Wait...

A rare case of an Alpha card that does not combo well with R&D's Secret Lair.

Gloom indeed. Games where this pones just depress me. Powerful color hosers are just annoying.

Because if you just lost to your friend's white weenie deck for the 6th time in a row, its time to get mad.
