When I was starting out, I thought this card was pretty good until I realized that it is a huge mana drain in the mid- and end-game stages because those times are when the big creatures come out. At least Power Sink forces the opponent to pony up mana as well.

pretty good in the right metagame.
I'm sure if you see a lot of Lion's Eye Diamonds you would see a lot of this too.

The art on this card is great, as the contrast between light and dark make it appealing and eye catching. Also the figure in the art reminds me of the guy on Force of Will. As for the card itself, paying 1 more mana to counter something of your opponent's is pretty bad. Thus i only use them in my casual Bad Blue Deck along with Arcane Denial.

The weakest of the starting counterspells, and barely useful even back then.

For anyone saying this costs too much mana - remember, this is a guy who can explode his shirt with enough manliness to drive Draco back to its nest. You just can't do that with standard counterspells
