Kiss your precious Esperites, Arcbound, and Myr goodbye. Kataki can tax your opponents ridiculously if they've got an Artifact deck. Take out some copies of Disciple of the Vault - because those artifact-lovers are going to lose at least a few artifacts to Kataki's wrath. Throw in a few Saltblasts (pick off lands in order to reduce their mana supply), a little more creature removal, and an Indestructibility or two, and you have yourself a soldi W/B artifact-hoser deck.

A blowout against affinity, if they can't remove/counter it. It basically reads, "All permanents you control have an upkeep cost of 1."

Does anyone else have the idea of using this with Mycosynth Lattice? Your opponent would have to sacrifice things first...

Man, you would think that this card is pretty self explanatory. However, about half the times I pull out this card, I get asked "your upkeep or mine?" What a silly question.

On topic, I use this as a side-board card in the Modern format. I can't think of a better affinity-hoser than this.

Hilariously stubby arms.

"Hey Kataki, remember that block that came before us?"

"*** it. *** it hard."

Good in EDH, just not as a general.

This card's pretty sweet. At the time this guy was a little silly, well until u realized the block before this was Mirrodin. This is an absolute BOMB in extended and completly destroys affinaty.
4.5 out of 5

This isn't the most definite and powerful artifact hate (compared to cards that just destroy all artifacts or give them a life-loss upkeep cost, for example), but it's certainly the most efficient. Cheap as all get out at 2 cmc!
