Shower of Sparks, while heavily played by me in my youth, is a bad card. This is a much worse card.

Actually you know the most frustrating thing about arcane and splice? If it was just any 'instant or sorcery' you could splice to, or spiritcraft off, every single card in kamigawa with those mechanics would be cool and interesting.

It also triggers effects for "Whenever a player casts a spirit or arcane spell." It intentionally costs more than Shower of Sparks. If that's a problem for you, then you aren't using this card right. If you don't want to play this, consider Searing Blaze.

I hate how they arbitrarily tacked on an extra one mana, it's like saying we have to pay extra just for it being an arcane spell. I can't think of a single situation where you'd run this over Glacial Ray.
