Carl Critchlow made a splendid artwork for that card, but that's the only good thing about it regrettably.
Five mana and a creature which even has to be a fatty in order to bring down a big thread? No, thanks...
They should have made the cost 1Black, then it would have been a black, slightly more efficient Arcane version of Fling for creatures only.

Wow this is like bone splinters gone horribly wrong. 5 mana? Five? You can hardly splice anything onto it at that price. Why do -X/-X effects immediately get an extra 2-3 mana slapped on their CMC?

The absolute most ideal circumstance for this would be getting rid of a Ball Lightning or similar creature before it dies. It has huge power for its cost and it's going to die anyway. That's the absolute best-case scenario.

AND THE CARD STILL SUCKS! Even under laughably idealized conditions, it's still horrendously overpriced!

The only just reaction to someone actually playing this card would be to cast Rise from the Grave on whatever creature it is they threw at you, and attack them with it in order to punish their stupidity.

I would say the one thing this card has going for it is enabling Tragic Slip... but any destroy creature spell is still probably still better, unless you face a lot of indestructible creatures.

As an instant, the real best case scenario is response to removal or creature steal, but three or even four mana would be more fair. As is, i'd rather just cast Momentous Fall.
This was probably originally an uncommon board wipe card along the likes of Kagemaro, first to suffer, and a sorcery. And they forgot to change the mana cost.

Unbelievably bad, in every way.
ROBRAM is right - even under idealized circumstances, this card is overpriced by 4.
