so you make the damage hit him. Then prevent some of it, seems like it would be good for a cleric deck were you could prevent the damage more effectively.

You could run this card, or you could realize how idiotic and futile that would be and run most any of the old Kor creatures that have the damage redirection thing. They also don't have defender. And aren't legendary. And don't wear salad bowls.

Card is quite nice, in EDH is the really nice pieace of tactic that I usually use to achieve better protection in my ofensive estrategy. And using heart of light and Eight-and-Half Tails whisch gives him a powerfull resistence to damage. Beside! this Little fox badass can block one creature and prevent the damage of another. So, make your own consideration, and bushido is nice, i prefer this guy during combat being 2/5 than remain 1/4.
Cheers for everyone!
Happy 2012 guys!

How does his tap ability interact with protection from a colour? Ie, can it be used to effectively block an attack from a creature with protection from white by assigning the damage from that attack to Opal-Eye?
Thanks!

@Whyarecarrots
I believe protection from white would prevent Opal-Eye from choosing that creature as the source.

Since his tap ability isn't a targeting ability(it doesn't have the word target anywhere), it works against creatures with shroud or protection.

It may seem weird for defender to have reminder text while bushido doesn't, but this was actually the first set where defender became a keyword. So this was one of the first three creatures with defender, along with Kaijin of the Vanishing Touch and Traproot Kami. Before this, only Walls had the 'can't attack' ability, so it's understandable that players would need some reminding of the change. In contrast, they had had an entire set already to play with the bushido mechanic, making it okay to omit the reminder text on a wordy rare.

Am I... wrong in thinking this is a girl?
I mean, it's either a girl kitsune or a kitsune with a -fantastic- pectoral regime.
