If you put Whispersilk Cloak on this thing, you can lock down your opponent for the whole game. Certainly a scary card to fight against in the right decks, but the fact that its 2/2 makes it way too easy to remove...

Even though the card ability isn't that great... I love the art and the theme - and the Kamigawa Orochi. The sacrifice a snake isn't that much of a drawback because Orochi decks make dozens of tokens easily. So 3G for a 2/2 that makes players skip their untap step is pretty nice considering half of the Orochi tap creatures.

Most of the snakes and especially the snake tribal stuff in Kamigawa was actually pretty good. This... not so much. This seems like one of those cards that you have to make suck to print; if a deck can't block or deal with it when it untaps and you have a snake generator or even just a few snakes to cast for the next couple turns, the game's probably over because you just set up a one-sided Stasis-type effect. And considering how massively unfun that is I can see why this card was made extra weak. It should have just been cut from the file, though, since it doesn't really serve any purpose for limited, the only justification left.

Your forgetting this cards use is mostly to psych out your opponents. Let me explain how and why I use this card.
1. It's a snake shaman warrior deck, right? That means 3G is nothing, you'll have stacks of mana, especially with changelings replacing warriors.
2. It's a snake shaman warrior deck, right? That means its usually massive, because of the pseudo lords- Half the time, it takes more than one spell to put the thing to rest.
3. People either think it sucks, or its the biggest threat on the field and hit it instead of the real problems.
4. Lure on a Tangle Asp and this = opponent bursts into tears.

The fact that this is not black, has toughness under 4, is not proc white, and has no evasion PLUS it has a horrible drawback for even for a tribal deck (and is almost completely unplayable in a non-tribal deck) makes this practically worthless.

Talking about "Orochi tap creatures", this one definitely lacks that common ability every other Snake Warrior from Kamigawa has...she would be really nice if she had, but as Squall said, like that she's rather useless :(

Agreed with how bad the design of this truly is. A 2/2 for 4 mana is already bad, stats like that usually mean the creature will have a VERY useful effect. An effect isn't useful if it will not likely occur, such as in this case.
Plus with the fact that you do have to sacrifice a snake every upkeep, you are forced to play a snake token deck, which in itself isn't that strong anyway. Token decks are more powerful if they are saproling or elf tokens. If it were a 1/3 or even 1/4 to survive Lightning Bolt, then I could forgive this design. As it stands, this is horrible.

Kind of like a 4 mana Wanderwine Prophets for snake tribal. Your best chances of making this work are giving it haste with Lightning Greaves when your opponent has no blockers. It eats snakes for breakfast every turn, so you might want to try to feed it with Orochi Eggwatcher.
