I'm sorry you feel so badly about the artwork. In context of the other three Kamigawa Islands, a viewer wouldn't help but see those as the J4panese style structures that they are. These pictures are really nice- no, they are not among the greatest in all of art history or anything like that. Furthermore, the idea(s) portrayed by the pictures- buildings that rest on top of waterfalls within something like a water valley or something- are fantastic, especially when combined with art on other cards like the Blue Genju, Mystic Restraints, and Minamo. This is a significant reason why I kept playing the game past Kamigawa which is when I started.

No, the kamigawa block sucked and had atrocious art. The islands were no exception. I mean, look at them. They look like floating bee hives or something. How can I be expected to take that seriously. At least they don't have floating eyeballs or fish all over the place.
