If you thought the Japanese were into some weird stuff, you haven't met their ogre-mages.

Except Duress can't nab creatures and Thoughtseize costs you 2 life.. 1 more mana for neither drawback is just fine, I in fact have won more games using this in place of Duress as my friend's baneslayer is guaranteed to be discarded. Thoughtseize is great, but I've also lost from that down the line as losing 2-4 life from playing 1-2 of them does make a difference.

Nice to see a budget alternative to Thoughtseize.

@Alqatrkapa & scumbling1: Since both of you clearly have a lot of money, would you be so kindly as to buy a playset of Thoughseizes too?
Okay, enough with this ridiculous nonsense. Thoughseize is ridiculously expensive, and the majority of players playing casual would never consider obtaining even a single one outside of perhaps trading for it. You guys need to respect the fact that not all players want to throw away (yes, I did just say that) 100 bucks on four pieces of cardboard.
The only place I've ever seen Thoughtseize being played is at tournaments, and many of those who use it don't actually win or even go to the top 8.
If you want to invest money in your tournament deck, fine with me, but don't just assume that every other person wants/is able to do that.
Anyway, Distress is a good card. I've seen it used to take away bombs in casual many times, and a single mana doesn't make all the difference in the world when... (see all)

Just play Duress or Thoughtseize. Seriously.
