This is strictly better than Goblin Piker... but that's not saying much. If you were going to seriously play him, you'd be hard pressed to find a deck he would be any good in, because decks with aggressive red creatures are usually much more interested in dumping their hands than holding seven for marginal combat tricks. A decent turn 2 drop in limited, and not much more.

You know, for those times in red decks when you have 7+ cards in your hand you can't afford to play because you only have like three lands out.

...oh wait

@The_Trendkill: That's probably a perfect evaluation!

Saviours was a pretty "meh" set to me - it's not terribly interesting to have to sit around not playing your spells just so that you could have a high card count in your hand. I figured this guy was part of a cycle so I went looking for other cards that give you a bonus for having seven or more cards in hand... only to find that it was a two card cycle where the other card is Deathmask Nezumi. An ability like this would really be at its best in a Blue deck - a Draw-Go kind of deck - so it's odd that WotC didn't give this ability to a blue creature.

I guess Ronin Houndmaster has enslaved this little guy, given him a rusty sword and everything, but it's kind of interesting that if you manage to get "sevencraft", the goblin could take him in a fight!

Basically Goblin Piker with a fairly rare benefit. Not too shabby, but not great either.

2.5/5

I dunno, i feel like this guy deserves a 3/5.
Sure, it's hard to meet the condition. I didn't like Savior's "seven cards in hand"-theme that much either...

But he's still a potential 4/3 first striker for a mere two mana.

Go Johnny and try using him in a deck with Wheel of Fate, Reforge the Soul, Diminishing Returns, Time Reversal, Dragon Mage, or even Magus of the Jar maybe?

The ability sucks unless you're getting mana screwed. In which case you're probably boned anyway.

Dude, who else is on the art? I used to think it was that Mad Ronin guy but perhaps not...
