Use Soul Rend instead. Essentially it's the same, but it's 
less to cast.

Well, if you keep a few of these, and a few copies of Slay in your sideboard, while running Doom Blade main deck then against the right deck...say, Bant? You could potentially have 12 copies of Doom Blade , 8 of which include card drawing for black that doesn't cost you life.
Not the best card ever, but like Slay, its definitely sideboard worthy.

it also prevents regeneration. but due to the restriction of it being a white creature, it is still expensive.
maybe an alright sideboard card (but there is always better)
