It basically adds two mana. Don't let the five mana symbols fool you. But if you use this right you can pull of an insane combo.

Yep, a red Dark Ritual and its really useful! In a red dragons deck its a must. Like Th3_Dark_On3 said, using this to cast Dragonstorm is so funny.

It also converts colorless (or nonred) mana into red mana, useful if you're running the Urzatron, playing 2 or 3 colors, or just short on red mana for some reason.

Mountain, tap one for rite of flame. pay R for rite of flame off of that one. pay RRR for seething song. a third rite of flame off that and dragonstorm for 4 bogardan hellkites... sum1 did that 2 me once.
