No, he meant single creature, in the sense that when the equipped creature is killed you can move the equipment onto someone else.

If it weren't for its cost, this card would be too good to have been printed. My friend stopped playing Standard because of this card, and other equipment. This card can give any deck a trample source and life gain, without committing to a single creature.
