Use this in my Malfegor EDH deck. Sure I never win, but the ensuing chaos is just so much fun.

Thanks to all the mana artifacts during Standard at the time, you can pretty much kill everything, lock the board, and still get to play a threat right after. Check out Kai Budde's's deck here.

That's exactly how this card was used. That, or you can use lots of mana rocks to continue playing things after everything explodes.
I use this in my Tajic EDH deck as part of a trio - this, destructive force, devastation.
Basically, since my commander is indestructible, he can survive all 3 of these spells. They all leave the field basically empty except for my commander and his equipment. It's pretty brutal.

So basically Destructive Force with everything (including mana cost) decreased by one?
seems like a pretty decent boardwipe, could be used with 5+ toughness creatures to benefit you even more.
4/5

Big fun in multiplayer, that is if you're one of those players that likes shaking the field up :)

A central part of my friend's land destruction deck. Basically, he keeps killing your lands, and if you somehow manage to get to four lands, he plays this, and kills just about any creature you managed to summon with those lands as well.
Sure, it sets him back a bit as well, but nowhere near as far as it sets you back.
