The idea of using it with Yawgmoth's Bargain is beyond tempting...

This card is often overlooked, but it's a midgame monster in almost any white control deck. If your opponent can't keep amping up the damage output more and more every single turn (and in MWC they ought not to be able to), you can pretty much eat whatever they DO manage to get through around the edges and then just gain it all back at your leisure by dropping extra Plains into PoM. Add a Howling Mine and you're pretty much golden. It's also got good synergy for threshold, and of course it works well with madness, although being a white card, it's not my first choice to splash into a madness deck.

People often overlooked Peace of Mind's discard fuels one's graveyard. Putting certain cards in graveyard yields advantage when used right. Cards with flashback, madness, reanimation, threshold, and other functions are all powerful. Peace of Mind is also used in lockdowns with cards such as Zur's Weirding, provide you with life points to bargain over and over.

Yeah, one white to put something in my 'yard? It is extremely useful, I wish there was something like it in standard right now.

allmighty_jerkoff:

Legendary and Cyberium have excellent points. Not everybody plays with creature-based decks like you apparently do. This is a decent control mechanism, for all reasons those two listed, and likely more. The 3 life isn't even the biggest part; as Cyberium pointed out, graveyard filling can be excellent, even for a white/black weenie deck with recursion.

Be careful when you comment next time; make sure you know what you're talking about.

This card is overlooked because discarding a card to gain a measly 3 life is garbage. Who are you playing against that can't keep up with 3 life a turn? A brick wall?

Seriously, if you want to gain life that's what creatures with lifelink are for

Yeah, 3 life isn't worth the card disadvantage, but it's important to remember; In the right deck, the graveyard is more a resource than anything. So this card can be seen as a reusable enabler for certain combos/reanimator with a bit of life gain attached. Not bad.
