If played correctly, this destroys their two biggest attacking creatures and gains you a chunk of life. Of course this means you can't really cast anything during your turn in order to leave six mana open. And once your opponent knows that you have this in your deck, such a move becomes painfully transparent.

Well the thing is, Threaten is a Sorcery, and this is an Instant...
Like, say, they attack w/ everything? Oh, I'll take your Wrexial, and give it Lifelink too! (Then block. Duh.)

would be great if someone played this with White cost paid and then you respond with brand.
"Thanks for the free lifelink until end of turn!"

@SwordSkill and anyone else calling it lifelink
the creature does not get life link, it gains "Whenever this creature deals combat damage, you gain that much life" which is slightly different
if you did this to a creature, you would gain double the life, because it is 2 seperate effects.
You could do it to your own creature, one with lifelink already. like, a darksteel colossus with a basilisk collar on it...

Would've been okay at 4 mana as a sorcery.

I don't know anyone who would attack me with a bunch of large creatures while I have 6+ mana open.

@polychromatic
Then put black in your boros deck, and add Dark Ritual. Call it an Uroboros deck!

Despite the instant speed, it's still overcosted. {4}{R} maybe, not {5}{R}.
