Its last ability makes me laugh, out of the sheer flavour randomness

This card is a really interesting one if you look at it with a Vorthosian perspective. The planeswalker needs to create a Mob... so they kill someone. They point the blame to some Druids, the Selesnya or the Golgari (or any saproling-using group). They're vindicitive, they're vengeful, they're not going to be deterred by the cheap chumps plants.

... Little do they know, they're just not attacking the right people.

This card is very, very black, and makes a whole lot more sense once you get over the fact that you'll probably never use it outside of sealed/draft

I had to do a double take when I first saw one of these lying around... Let's see... A 5/5 for 4BB. Okay, it had better be useful. Sac a creature when it comes into play... Oh, boy... this thing had better have some amazing abilities! Can't be blocked by Saprolings... HUH?!?!?! Shouldn't it have Fear or something to justify the name and the absurd cost?!

I have no idea what they were on when they made this card? A 5/5 for 4BB that can't be blocked by Saprolings is basically a Craw Wurm - why does it need to sac a creature, too? And who cares about Saprolings? And isn't a 5/5 large enough to handle Saprolings that are almost always 1/1's? And how does this card make any sense at all? Plants fleeing the angry mob? A mob that wants to hunt down plants? Huh?!

Maybe it's better that not all cards are on the same level power as Visara but I agree that Vindictive Mob is crap. Overcosted for what it does and protection from Saprolings isn't very useful (personally I like to get rid of creatures via Deathspore Thallid).
And why this card is an uncommon is also very stupid.

Presumably the guys stampede over them or something. I mean, most Saprolings are maybe a turn or two old, nothing that a really determined mob can't get over.

Then again, they can block Krosan Cloudscrapers...

Magic kinda needs bad cards though... it adds an element of luck and skill to formats like draft and sealed, and balances he game

for example, if i'm running a nice green and black deck in a ravnica draft, and if this is one of the best black cards left that i need to make a complete deck, then i'll use it. Especially if i have some good dredge cards and no big things, this is going in, and maybe my opponent won't chump block with saprolings all day long because of it.

Perhaps a prototype for Champion?
