Serendib Djinn and Serendib Efreet are absolute terrors on the battlefield; especially in blue (meaning they're likely to be guarded.)

Artificial Evolution and the Velis Vel spells. Overall, combined with the previous cards mentioned on this page, I think there are quite some ways to make the King threatening.

This was printed in the first expansion, Magic was still finding it's 'voice'. But yeah, he's only really useful against a deck heavy in djinn and efreet. And those don't exist anymore, soo...
