Probably maindeckable in limited; possible sideboard card in current standard. Probably bad in older formats, but that's not enough to keep it from being useful in its homes. 3/5.

This art and the fact that it's an instant vs. Deathmark at sorcery speed makes me prefer it even though I know it's worse.

Narrow, but instant. It seems like black is getting a lot of super-efficient but narrow cards printed lately like Appetite for Brains. I think discard is the new permission for control and Wizards is trying to push variance in decks.

As an extreme fan of her influence on Gatherer to utterly redundify half the comments on this entire set, but also as someone that now thinks he might have an understanding and compassion for Doom Blade Guy,
AND as someone who feels that his fan ravings on a billion other cards repeatedly hyperlinking back to She-Who-Must-Stop-Being-Named might incur some kind of debt to society-
I kinda feel I owe it to Gatherer....
