She doesn't have any useful abilities because she's a philosopher.

this card raises a lot of philosophical issues regarding card design.

Not good enough. I agree. Needs an ability. And maybe 1 more power would do the trick. Maybe 1 more for the casting cost would be right in that situation. And probably a different name and move it up to uncommon.

After that I guess they'd need one more white common creature at 2 cmc, like perhaps a 2/2 with no abilities. They could call it... Oh, I dunno. Something like "Traveling Philosopher."

Man, I'm such a better designer than these fools at WOTC.

Perhaps the dumbest bear ever. But I do love me some James Ryman.

What terrible card design. Who wants to push into the red zone and beat down with "Traveling Philosopher"? This is a perfect example of being slaves to the theme of the set. If they wanted a generic 2/2 for drafts, they could easily have made some sort of "Swiftspear Hoplite" or whatever. Why on earth would you make a 2/2 body with a name like that?

It's genuinely jarring. Ew.

"Hah! They sent a mere philosopher to fight with me? The great Daxos of Meletis? Truly the enemy is desperate!"

"Hello. Have you ever heard of something called the categorical imperative?"

"What? No. Draw your sword!"

"Basically, it was a system designed to determine a basic universal morality by measuring an individual's actions against a set of various maxims."

"What are you even- Just draw your sword already!"

"It was developed by the German philosopher Immanuel Kant. Kant also specialised in political philosophy and logic."

"Gods above! Shut up! I don't care about any of this! Just kill me or die already!"

"Immanuel Kant was one of the leading liberal minds of the era along with John Locke who-"

"Oh, just forget it." *kills self*

"Oh my. What a sudden way to go. It reminds me of the writings of Frederic Nietzsche and how he believed all life is truly meaningless in the grand scale of things. Gods, I am boring and depressing...." *kills self*
