*** cool in the most brutal way; a concise and attractive embodiment of red/green//gruul. What's the best way to respond to all the problems with the world? Trade sentience for ravening, skull-bursting furor. Feels good, man

I dunno, it's really only a slightly different (potentially either stronger or much weaker) and more mana-intensive Garruk's Companion. That's certainly not a bad thing and it is a good card for its time, but still, it wouldn't hold up today except in a counter-based Gruul deck.

Man this guy is so outclassed by Stormblood Berserker.

Depends on your turn 1 play to be able to damage the opponent for max efficiency. Otherwise it won't be as devastating when you play it later on.

If you're sure you'll probably be playing a creature on turn 1 to attack with he's pretty good, but otherwise since you probably won't be able to play him as a 3/3 on turn 2, he's mediocre.

Can always throw him together with that one-to-cast gruul hybrid creature that sacks for mana and a straight burn spell. But... meh. There's more fun to be had on second turn drops than this dude.

It will remain a mystery to me why most of the other, less attractive Bloodthirst cards from Guildpact weren't as well crafted as this Aggro-centric card. You don't feel awful for not getting Bloodthirst to work, like with Ghor-Clan Savage, but if you do get get it, you've got yourself a reasonably powerful critter for your efforts, like with Skarrgan Pit-Skulk.

he's a beast in the right Pauper deck. drop this guy on turn 2, then turn 3 Volt Charge a tasty target, add a +1/+1 to the Mauler and attack with a 4/4 trample on turn 3. it requires the deck to be built around bloodthirst, but seriously, how difficult is that with red and green?

also not fair to compare this to Stormblood Berserker, which is an uncommon. direct card comparisons are only fair when the cards have the same mana cost and rarity.

by the way, he can also go into R/G human decks too.

4/5
