I pulled this card AND Whispersilk in a pack the other day, and I have to say, I prefer the shroud combo a lot more than an indestructibility combo. One, it works loads better to have two artifacts in my Esper deck than just an artifact and an enchantment, but I also like just having the protection from all the RFG spells, spot removal stuff, and things that force it to block other creatures. My only worry when I play it is to see that person playing with three plains tap out for six with a smirk on their face... ;_;

I recall a guy at a card shop wanting to buy this card from a friend of mine- he didn't play Magic, he just thought it was one of the most absurd lines of text he had ever seen on a card in a CCG.

But no, it's honestly not broken. Just wish it wasn't Mythic now. It just means it's even less likely for me to get them.

Everyone is saying how this card doesn't work in play, I must disagree.

I use this in a blue artifact deck with tons of counterspells and sroud-giving enchants. The only thing to remember is that this won't win the game it just gives you protection. You can use this to defeat your opponent while you're already at 0 life. Much better protection than a wall.

This card is also extremely useful as the best distraction card in the game. While its up no one will be after me or my other creatures giving my heavy hitters like Guile or Inkwell Leviathan to do their job.

An excellent card as long as u remember to defeat your opponent instead of just depending on it to make u invulnerable

Overrated in my opinion. Gives you a false sense of security. Any bounce/steal/destroy/whatever effect can make short work of it and of you as well.

Even if you give it shroud AND make it indestructible there are many ways of getting rid of it. sudden spoiling for example, or innocent blood, and many many other ways.

I mean, it's a 4/4 flyer for 7 mana, which, by itself, is pretty bad. And it's an artifact and a creature, which means it dies very very quickly. It's only powerful if combined with many other cards to protect it, and even then your opponent might have answerse. And you could have just replaced the angel and dozens of cards with something that actually wins you the game, instead of stalling it.

The effect is powerful of this card, but in my opinion it's very overrated. If I'm right it never appeared in any tournament worthy deck either.

Master Transmuter + Ethersworn Canonist + this card = watch your opponent scoop. Just have a Negate handy for spells like Day of Judgment and the like. You don't need to do anything; just sit back and watch him run out of cards to draw (eventually).

I am surprised by all the comments about how ineffective this card is. Good players always look at and scrutinize a card's potential. This will not be a mythic rare if it's THAT lame. Deck-builders need to tap inside their inner-Johnny when dealing with a card like this. I see this card anchoring type 1 control decks. It might not be as strong in the current metagame, but in Vintage -- wow.

At least it's not blatantly obscene like Baneslayer Angel. 4/5

Combine it with whispersilk cloak (provides shroud and makes it unblockable) and anything to make it indestructible, and taking this thing down will be like dismantling a bomb in the middle of a battlefield.

God, I want one of these.

Just with any other card, there's a really simple way around this card regardless of how you enchant it. If it has shroud, simply return the enchantment to the owners hand or destroy said enchantment, then getting rid of the angel is as simple as any other creature. Just keep getting their health as low as you can, and if they're at 0 or less life, then make your move to destroy it.

To everyone saying "lol this and indestructibility is OP" or "put whispersilk cloak on and lol at your opponent," I have had to deal with both scenarios. Naturalize, Solemn Offering, Fleshbag Marauder, Planar Cleansing into Doom Blade, etc all work wonders.

It's a good card, but has its weaknesses like every card does. High mana cost, vunerability, and being a high value target are just a few of the problems with a card like this. The biggest problem is lulling its player into a false sense of security. Whats gonna keep you from taking those 2 Stampeding Rhinos to the face? You cant lose! Until they Naturalize and Doom Blade, or any other combination of removal cards. Not to mention, enchant/artifact removal is a big sideboard element, as well as something many people ma... (see all)

usually by the time i have this out i have played darksteel forge, a great combo for my artifact deck. need to give it shroud though. i was sitting at -8 life once with the aforementioned combo, and platinum angel was returned to my hand. also nice to play sculpting steel after platinum angel, ya know, as backup

Yeah, it's a strong card. Your just one spell or enchantment away from winning a gam, or at lest, making it very, very hard for your opponant to win it. Of coruse, with it being an artefact, makes it vunrible to certain spells which can also taregt artefacts, but played well, you'll rule the battlefield.
