I love this guy so much.

Pure and efficient power, but at such a subtle cost. Without Trample or Haste to sneak damage through, this guy is a prime victim for chump blockers to hold back. And that's totally okay!

In an older set, this might've been balanced out by giving him a Cumulative Upkeep or something else that's totally inhibiting to the sort of ramping deck that would love this card. That's no fun, and I'm so glad that WotC found a creative way to get around it.

Can I just say that Scavenge is one of my favourite mechanics so far? It's a unique and imaginative way to get extra value out of your creatures so that they no longer "die to removal". It's brilliant and I wish there had been more creatures who could use Scavenge effectively. Good stuff.

Will be a draft bomb. Standard potential might be iffy though.

Oh come on!!!

Overheard at the WotC card lab: "Oh, I know, let's just make it rare! Then it won't disrupt the balance of the game too much..."

This, along with other cards like Baneslayer Anger, is the reason old fogeys like me look at modern magic with consternation. Cards like this are straight disrespectful!

Scavenge is really poor in my opinion. You could sit there and spend six mana, in this case, just to have your opponent kill or bounce the recipient of the +X/+X and all that mana would be wasted.

This will do fine in Standard but won't see much play in other formats.

As a pro, I really like the scavenge ability and this guy is very good at scavenging, among other things.

I fvucking LOVE golgari insects. They have the coolest art I've ever seen on a magic card.

I want to know when the power creep on creatures is going to stop. Ten years from now, is 5/5 for 3 going to be the new norm? I remember when creatures used to be part of the collector's market. Now I just feel sorry for people who paid money for cards like Juzam Djinn or any of the older creature cards that used to actually be good back when Wizards had standards.

I guess it is true that back in the day creatures were underpowered compared to other spells. 4/4 flyers for 5 honestly weren't very impactful. But they're going way too far with the powering up. Obsoleting Juzam Djinn wasn't the answer.
