Why is this being rated so low? Obviously it's not that good in standard, but in EDH this is basically a duplicant that costs 1 more mana but can hit more creatures. Lifegain hardly matters in EDH anyway.


@mdakw576: There are very few similarities between this as Duplicant. Our favorite metal guy will usually net you more than four power, doesn't give the enemy life, and is colorless (playable in colors that lack powerful spot removal). Life totals do matter in EDH more than you suggest, especially if there are utility generals like Azusa involved.

All I'm going to say is that you are playing either duplicant or this guy primarily for its exile removal, and everything else about the cards are just bonuses (or weaknesses). Luminate does said primary job better than Duplicant, hence there will be very few decks that would want to use duplicant if they have access to Luminate.

play it with Erebos, God of the Dead and remove the final drawback.

In standard control, this takes out a creature for good and leaves a beefy 4/7 vigilance threat. Might be overpriced by like 1 mana, but I like it. Also good for EDH format.
