Merieke Ri Berit is cheaper, in a superior tribe and destroys the stolen creature if you somehow lose it...denying regeneration. Much better. Sorry Rubinia.

@ Continue, no it wasn't on the reserved list because it was printed in Chronicles and therefore subject to the exemption; "(3) all rare cards from Legends and The Dark that have not yet been reprinted in white border. "

ok, so i used this card in an Emperor game once with me as the emperor. i used her ability to grab creatures from opponents continuously.

in the version of the Emperor rules i read, each creature controlled by the emperor gains a tap ability to give control of it to one of his generals.

so... that means i take control of a target creature, then use the emperor ability to give it to one of my generals, then can freely untap Rubinia and use the ability again on something else because i dont control that creature anymore? or am i looking at an old version of the Emperor rules?

Interesting in combination with Murkfiend Liege, Seedborn Muse, or Prophet of Kruphix. You are actually forced to untap Rubinia on your opponent's untap step and return the creature you took. On the one hand, this can be a liability because it gives them another chance to protect it (via hexproof, etc...), but on the other hand it lets you take over their best creature every turn in a way that still allows you to attack with it on your turn.

It's like Cynthia Sheppard decided to show us a picture of Rubina in her early twenties,
while Rob Alexander originally depicted her in her late thirties.
