It's not that bad actually. I run 2 of these in a eldrazi deck. Mana really isn't a problem so, ya.

Combos well with Ethersworn Canonist against most decks. Use Master Transmuterto get it out.
Probably not the most efficient or reliable combo out there but it is effective.

@Weretarrasque: Only if its absorbing every color of visible light. A thing appears to be the colors it doesn't absorb, so yes, if it were to absorb every color of light, it should be pitch black. However, the flavor text never explicitly states what kinds of light it absorbs.
