Big free for all match. I was mono white and guy next to me played kaverick. I wasn't a threat but I had a lot of mana. Played a lot of big cost cards and the other guy used kaverick to kill every one else, then I crib swaped kaverick :) Next turn,
red Akroma killed me :(

Seems awesome in EDH! Haha omg, specially when they try to keep replaying their general after you kill it. Can kill many players just from that alone! Sucks you can't target the new creature though

A perfect lockdown power in any black-red deck... getting him out might be tough but with a few mana boost and he can show up at least turn six or five...partner him with his girlfriend Lyzolda the Blood Witch with Goblin Assault and see ur opponents face burned or make ur opponents creatures back to ashes...

Richard Ferguson would have been a better artist for Kaervek, though RK Post is good, the flavor of Ferguson would have better, just as Sliver queen is to Ron Spencer.

As crazy as it sounds, I can see this guy in an all blue deck. Use Mutavault/Darting Merfolk as targets for an early game Polymorph. Get Kaervek out, lay down an Equilibrium and an Arcane Laboratory. Then keep poppin' a Darting Merfolk every turn for a PAINFUL LOCKDOWN

I used to hate this card as well. However, now i see its true power. very few creatures can survive being played, as most creatures have their toughness equal or lower than their mana cost. The only creatures can survive it are walls, creatures with protection, and creatures with shroud. However, you can just target the person who played the spell and burn them off quick, considering its black red.
When my friend plays his black/red deck, i save a kill spell for him, cause he needs to die right away or else its game over for me. And even if i save a kill spell for him i still take some damage for playing it.
PS, madformedusa, i agree in that i can see him in a grixis deck. That would actually work fairly well. Not mono blue though.
