You'd think something like this would be a Legendary permanent.

This is bad. Flexible, but bad. The benefit of making tokens in a color you're not playing is not great enough to make up for the fact that it costs 6 mana for a 1/1 creature and 3 mana for each one after that. Plus you can only make one a turn anyway.

It is a bit expensive, but these little goblin tokens might come in handy.

I think what people underestimate here is this was a good workaround for the "protection from x color" problem with monocolored decks.

@Lavrant Because Old Fogey has protection from homarids. They wanted this card to be that much better

This is the only card with a period in the name, not counting Un-cards.

I suppose you could have this in your deck with Executioner's Hood, and start creating tokens of whatever color your opponent is NOT using. Or perhaps Hideous Visage, if you are running black.
"Would be pretty amusing with Mind Extraction."
Again, because you have flexibility in color, you can abuse your opponent by choosing a color that works best against your opponent's deck.
Just hope they aren't running artifacts (if you are using the intimidate scheme), Painter's Servant, or artifact destroy.

I think the italicized name is pretty nifty.
