You need to learn to read the card. From Platinum Emperion: Your life total can't change. (You can't gain or lose life. You can't pay any amount of life except 0.)
It prevents you from paying life. This guy is even worse with Platinum Emperion since he's exiled the first time a creatures goes to your graveyard.

this is the best assassin in magic. great with dark ritual cuz it can get out the first turn and start beating right away.

the only thing this card cant beat is progenitus!

@ Metalovolence: I made an assassin tribal deck, so hilarious, so surprisingly good. This guy makes my day, until you realize your opponent is playing mono-black. But seriously, this is one awesome card!
