3 toughness makes it tough enough to block and kill a large percentage of shadow creatures without dying itself. If your play-group is heavily into Shadow, he's an OK card to sideboard.

It's not horrible. It can withstand pingers (unlike Soltari Foot Soldier) and might eat a burn spell that would be headed for your face, or can be turned into life as a last desperate attempt to live.
Is it worse than many of the Tempest white shadow creatures? Yes, but it's still playable.

How can this thing have like 3 stars? It's horrible. I mean, if you have a creature with shadow, it's supposed to be aggressive, because it's basically unblockable, and can't basically block either. One power is not aggressive. Three toughness sucks too, because it can't block the huge majority of creatures. And the sacrifice part is garbage, because you can only use it during your upkeep. If you could sacrifice it in response to a removal spell it would be better. But like this?
