You can take infinite turns by enchanting this with Cloak of Mists and tapping Stonybrook Schoolmaster each turn with an enchantment or equipment

I play this card in an aggro merfolk deck but placing one in a merfolk miller deck wouldn't hurt.

Yeah, there are so many combos with this card.
If you want to just use Lorwyn cards, then enchant him with a Protective Bubble and use a Summon the School each turn. Just sac the merfolks you make and attack infinitely!

Yeah, I use Wanderwine Prophets, Stonybrook Schoolmaster, Merfolk Sovereign, and some tapping engine like Drowner of Secrets in my merfolk deck to combo into infinite turns and 5 unblockable damager per.

I use him with Cold-Eye Selkie and Merfolk Sovereing in a mono blue Islandwalk deck. Usually I take infinite turn by drawing cards with Cold-Eye Selkie ( at least 3 cards) giving me a creature to cast for sacrifice. Merfolk Sovereing is here to make Wanderwine prophets unblokable. I could add that Stonybrook Banneret is useful in my deck as if i have 1 or 2 in play i could play Wanderwine sooner.

(very mean infinite turn deck) Wanderwine Prophets used for turns Deepchannel Mentor blue unblockable Stonybrook Schoolmaster tokens Summon the School more tokens Sygg, River Guide pro any color to merfolks Cleansing Meditation anything the over guy throws at you savor the moment easy extra turn no untap Merrow Commerce oh wait there ya go seahunter and the best card for any merfolk deck !!! any merfolk for 3 !!! i use the ability at the end of opponents turn so they have less time to kill wanderwine prophets and then it's sickness is over and during my turn i get deepchannel so all blue are unblockable and the game is over if they have no cards of use in hand

I built a U/W merfolk deck based on this guy...and even though infinite turns with Merfolk Sovereign's ability is nice, I rarely get the chance to play him. Now I have a deck where it's just an optional finisher, but when it isn't outdone by the other merfolk, he gets the job done.

I'm kind of glad that, in a pinch, you can sac him for his effect without losing a creature from the battlefield(whatever he championed comes back).
