A solid card itself. There is so many ways to get an extra mana in green, so its casting cost doesn't really matter. I give it 4 stars.

In constructed, I think this may be a sub-par choice for token generating, considering how many better options in green there may be. However, in a slower format such as EDH, I have used this card to great success with Momir Vig as the general. Played at the right time, this card (in combination with Momir's tutoring ability) can give you serious board advantage just from the sheer number of tokens this thing can make.
A fun card, but certainly not the best.

If only the bird token let you scry 2. That would be awesome.

@atsandwich: It seems your strategy tip is a little confused. The owls would be the better blockers as they can effectively chump most creatures, while the wolves would be the better attackers as they can dish out higher potential damage.

I don't know why everyone complains about the "high" mana cost - if you have a green and blue deck, this is one of your most powerful cards, so who really cares if you need six lands to cast it? Replying to Treima: Wolves and Birds are not "weak"! Maybe one Wolf or one Bird, but if you have a green and blue deck, you will always have an average of 3 Wolves and 3 Owls at the same time, which basically ensures that your life total is never touched! Fable of Wolf and Owl is definitely one of my favorite cards.
Strategy Tip: Use the Birds primarily for attacking and the Wolves primarily for blocking.

It is too expensive but I think it works well in two headed giant games because they tend to last longer and it helps get out blockers.

Try using a Urza's Filter to make it cost 4 instead of 6.

I 100000% agree that this spell should have been a bit more powerful.... it is such a pretty card and promotes a great aspect of the spirit of magic.... even quite simply reducing the cost to cast it would have bettered this card... but for now it's just another pretty spell... we'll, even though we may be a bit let-down I couldn't honestly say it sucks, and yes it's still playable... and it's benefits can be easily utilized....
is one of the stories you are thinking of involving the fable from a really good old-school movie, I think michael ironside and mathew brodrick etc.?

6 Mana for a token producer.
Why am I getting flashbacks to antiquities all of a sudden?
Huh. Oh well. Simply put, by the time this enchantment comes down, chances are very likely that you will be in topdeck mode, and for a card that only triggers when you play spells, that is no good at all.
That, and you will probably be wishing you had spent that 6 mana on something better.
Simply put, this card is win-more.
