"Wandering mage"? That's a Jaya Ballard quote, attribute it correctly.

I understand that for 7th edition, the designers wanted to create a new type of world, where the four paladins battled for supremacy. Hence why they didn't want to reference characters like Jaya Ballard, Task Mage who wouldn't be a part of that world.
Why not just create new flavor text though, especially since everyone loves Jaya? I thought 7th edition was an interesting twist on a core set, and I don't hate it as much as everyone else, but I don't like this card.

Why did they change it to, "Wandering Mage"?

@Ace8792 Not quite. Flame Wave is a one-sided "burn you and your creatures", this burns all.

The attribution of Jaya Ballard quotes to "wandering mage" is one of the many reasons why 7th edition sucked.

I don't think that it is better, since it hits you and your creatures as well

This is the better version of Flame Wave, it does 3 extra damage to each creature and costs the same mana and is a instant not a sorcery.
