Wow, weird gem for EDH. I like how it is protection and removal in one.

A great card for multiplayer games. I put one in almost all of my EDH decks. It's great for saving your creatures at instant speed. It also works will for removing an opposing player's creature. But my favorite is using it on creatures with "come into play" effects. Use it on Acidic Slime or Angel of Despair to destroy a permanent every turn for 3 mana. Graft creatures keep their tokens and add more whenever they are released from the Coffin. My favorite is to use it on a Mycoloth to have it devour it's own saprolings. It grows exponentially.

This card is amazing in EDH. It removes opponent's creatures (especially cards like Iona). It saves your own creatures from board wiping. Its also great with "come into play effects". Mulldrifter? Draw 2 cards each turn. Entering the battlefield with X +1/+1 counters? Double its counters each turn!

Couldn't the ability be used to stop something from happening? For example, I have a Zirilan of the claw edh deck. Can't I used the Coffin to remove the dragop I search for, then return it to play next turn?

Combos with Skullbriar to double its counters each turn. Use Concordant Crossroads to give it haste and swing.

@ syrazemyla: Skullbriar has haste already >__>
This card truly is an EDH gem, nothing like targeting someone's general and making them debate upon dropping the general into their command zone or letting you exile it for however long. Part of me wants to use it with march of the machines to exile some silly things like darksteel reactor or something. But really, this card has so much utility for 4 mana I'm honestly surprised I don't see it more often; removal, removal dodge, ETB/LTB trigger generator, etc. Seems especially fun with generals like
Animar, Soul of Elements,
Rasputin Dreamweaver, Ghave, Guru of Spores,
Iona, Shield of Emeria (reset that color lock in multiplayer!) or my favorite... The Mimeoplasm.

@ MANABURNWASGOOD
Yes, you can use this card (as well as any card that flickers something) in exactly that way.

It doubles the counters on Skullbriar.
Skull briar keeps his counters when he exiles and you take note of the counters. When he comes back, he gets counters equal to what he had In addition to the ones he already has on him.
