the flavor text actually comes from the original greek myth of sphinxs. the answer is man. when born he crawls on all four "legs", for the majority of the rest of his life he walks on two legs, and near the end of his life he walks with a cane.

Pairs up with Wizened Snitches and Brainstorm type deck manipulation spells. Scy effect is also nice with this.
You might also want to notice that if you guess wrong, the card goes to graveyard, not in the bottom of your deck. So all the cards that like other cards to be in there, would appreciate it even if guessing wrong would be "punished".
I think the main question is that is the 3/4 creature worth paying the casting cost? No. CMM of 5 is too much to ask for this. Atleast with nowadays standards. And making it that difficult with three whites makes even less sence. With the casting cost, the creature should be atleast 4/5, Flying and Vigilance.
Then again... Not all rares are made equal.
