My opponents always freak when this is my first turn play, but that's nothing compared to this when it does happen:
T1: Goblin Guide Swing for 2 (18)
T2: Goblin Guide, land Swing for 4, bolt for 3 (11)
T3: land, ball lightning Swing for 10 (1)
That's when they scoop. Unless they have a t2 Wall of Omens, most of the time when I have a hand like that its game over pretty quick. Honestly, I've kept 2 Landers and sometimes 1 Landers if I have 2 of these guys in my hand and still managed to win. This guy is pretty damn good and at times the drawback can help you as well as force them to discard a card if they only play a land on their 1st turn if you revealed a land on your first turn.

Nope, you’re not missing anything. A 2/2 creature with haste for one mana is too good to not have a drawback. The ability is meant to help your opponent, although it is somewhat nice to see what cards he (or she) is drawing.

This is ridiculous, 5/5 hands down. We've established that.
What I really wanted to point out is that the nose looks VERY strange
I noticed in a building on a budget article with zoomed in artwork
Cannot be unseen

There's a video on Youtube showing Angry German Kid getting owned by Vampire Nighthawk and Goblin Guide.

mdawk what kind of fail burn decks have you been playing card advantage is meaningless when you are playing the kind of burn deck he would go in the point of many burn decks is to win with in the first couple of turns and if you fail you are screwed anyway they are not going to play all the exstra cards in there hand to he has no real draw back.

In most cases (since most decks have around 20 lands or so), it will only turn on advantage to your opponent about 30-35% of the time, which is still an awesome deal for a 2/2 with haste for a single Red mana

The best one-drop in Magic. Period.

Very fast card with what usually amounts to a small drawback.
@grandkill: tied with god-draw "Quest for the Holy Armor" with Mox (which can 3-turn through blockers played on turns 1 and 2), certain Infect decks, and a few others (Triggered Summoning Trap for example).

Not too sure about this guy... 2 damage for potential card advantage. Most decks are 30-35% land. 1 in 3 chance to give the guy a card for 2 damage. And once a blocker comes down, they become really BAD!!! Ok sure you get to spy on the oppoent... but your probably playing RED!!!!! Red doesnt sit back and play evasive or a control style... Cards fly, and quick, and if they dont... you'll get burned... I really don't think the spying is worth possibly feeding your opponent an extra land draw. The only place I see this fitting very efficiently with... mono red burn and being the only creature in the deck. Turn 1 guide vs turn 1 bolt could = slightly faster kill if the oppoent is sitting on his ass...
This guys nightmare = Qasali Ambusher but dont worry the turn 1 ritual & specter feel the same sting from that kitty. Also... cards like Harm's Way really take the punch out of this guy.
2/2 Haste for 1 is still pretty decent.
4/5

I like how he's mentioned in the booklet for Fire & Lightning Premium Deck but he's not in there...
He would have fit very well, apart from not being fiery or lightningy enough. :(
