How come people rate this so highly and electropotence so low?

Elvish Piper the Krosan Cloudscraper then use Soul's Fire.

Trowa, Soul's Fire has a target creature you control deal damage to target creature or player equal to it's power, protection states that it can not be dealt damage from a source if it has protection from it.
So Baneslayer still wins. :\
On the other hand, swarming your opponent and then laughing after you play this is good, too.

This card is great in an affinity deck. Any creature with Cranial Plating attached is a fantastic target for this card.

Could I use this or fling on an un-championed Nova chaser, before the lack of championing kills it?

Trowa: Though your logic does indeed have a flaw, I couldn't help but imagine Francis in the place of Baneslayer

@Mindbend,
Yes, indeed. This card allows infect decks to reach when the opponent stabilizes. :-)

In affinity and other decks it is a toss-up between fling and this card. Fling doesn't work well against counters (FOW, daze etc.). However, it does work well against removal (swords, exile etc.) This card has won more tournaments than fling. I find fling to be situational, and this slightly better.
