Well the potential to use this as three types of mana is a great idea. Perfect to make my green white red.

Only thing that I can see making this better is Amulet of Vigor

Solid mana-fixing.
It gets the job done at uncommon, and without hugely prohibitive drawbacks.

Tapped is not that bad. Thats why they made Day of Judgment, to humble greedy opponents who try to take advantage of your late development.
