The mana cost isn't as much of a problem when you use your head, as there are many spells for mana acceleration in Black and Red. Burnt Offering, Dark Ritual, Seething Song. Or go the way MTG did with the Demonic deck and use Overeager Apprentice. If you like odd creatures The toads of Urborg aren't fast, powerful, or pleasant, but they have their uses.
Using the Shadowmoor hybrid 1-drops in combination with Demon's Herald, potentially you could drop the Prince into play third turn.
