i love this card in my zombie deck. i can cycle it early and once i get boosters like Cemetary Reapers and Death Barons out, i can really wreck shtuff...then sac it wit Bone Splinters

This can go side by side with Sedraxis Specter. unearth this when they have no blocker/card in hand and unearth sedraxis when they have blocker/card in hand :)

It's odd. There is almost no incentive to pay its mana cost, as its cycling+unearth cost is the same plus you get a card. The only downsides are that you lose the creature at the end of turn (it's a 3/3 without evasion or protection though so who cares?) and possible problems with graveyard-exiling effects. I find this... strange but cool.

This card is the glue that holds some of my decks together. He's never great, but he's always useful. Cycle and unearth for a burn spell to the face, play him if you just need another body, cycle him if you need to draw some more gas.
I love this card because it's a good litmus test for how much someone is in trouble. You play him out when you're under pressure and ditch him when you're ahead.

Awesome tech for certain decks. I use it in my pauper zombie EDH deck because it has about 20 disentomb effects (though it doesn't even run disentomb lol) and allows me to draw cards off of him. He's also a good emergency attacker to finish a player off.
My friend uses him in his Balthor the defiled zombie tribal EDH deck and he's essentially a free creature (since you just cycle him) and can kill planeswalkers when people don't suspect it.
He's maybe not a super strong card, but he has epic utility. The combination of abilities is awesome.
Can trip + haste and exile at end of turn? Or just cast him normally? Or just cycle him for now and see what I draw, then unearth later? So many cool options.
