Rupture Spire works as well; Kaleidostone would also work. I'm kind of excited about just dropping an 8/8, and having the strongest card on the table for at least a while.

Not a bad card really when played with other cards like Ancient Ziggurat and Knight of New Alara.

A solid addition to any 5 color deck. If you happen to be lucky and get the right lands then you get a great advantage unless your opponent has something in his sleeve.... which he probably has.

This card is solid. A 8/8 for 5, even if they all have to be different colors. Sure 5 colors have SOME better things to drop their mana on, but one cannot ignore landing an 8/8 on the fifth turn (or earlier).

This is a very solid creature. In a five-color deck that is focused on having as many colors as possible (such as decks that use the Nephilim spells from Dissension), there are only so many five-colored creatures you can play. The big slivers aren't that great without their friends, Progenitus fills a whole different role, and you can only have so many Maelstrom Angels in a deck. I would prefer Maelstrom Angel to this if I was going to have four or fewer 5-mana rainbow cards, but this guy makes a great fifth through eighth.
Of course, he's also a prime choice for the demigod enchantments. I have a hypothetical casual deck made of these, Maelstrom Angel, Transguild Courier, Birds of Paradise, Bloom Tender and a bunch of color enchants.
