4cmc for a 5/4 is reason enough to like this guy.
The removal deterrent is naught but delicious gravy.

Gotta love that death insurance. I love any card that gives me something in return for one of my creatures getting killed.

5/4 for 4 with a positive ability? I mean, just looking at it's P/T shows that it's pretty good. And I know that pure lifegain is usually not something to get excited about, but 5 life repeatable is nothing to laugh at.

This card is cheap for what it does and is even a good fighter. Awesome.

It says right there, "If Mycoid Shepherd and another creature you control with power 5 or greater are put into a graveyard from the battlefield at the same time, Mycoid Shepherd's ability will trigger twice."

Sad that this didn't see more play.

I like this! It's similar in flavor and casting cost to Obstinate Baloth, which I also like. With creatures like Birds of Paradise this would easily be playable in an otherwise all-green deck with the other 5-power beasts.

Everyone thinks this is weak, but if it were printed a couple of years ago it would have been deemed overpowered, thanks a lot creature power creep...
