I think Ragamander was probably wrong about the effectiveness of this card versus Emrakul. I know it sounds like an oversimplification, but I think the best strategy to aim for when dealing with Emrakul is to just kill the opponent before they get a chance to use it.

awesome card, R/W allies needs this, it is powerful and so very fun
btw, if the bolt wont kill your opponent, you can use this to cancel your opponents combat by hitting one of your guys

This card might just be awesome in a lot of decks. I'm not sure if many of them are red/white decks, though. If this were blue/white, it would be an auto-include!

Kept me alive until a drew the cards I needed once. Great card. You might have a large token army, but they are just gonna sit there doing nothing :D

High risk, high reward.
This is a dangerous card. In these colors, you could play Holy Day or Dawn Charm, without the risk that your opponent will bolt his own creature, causing this to be countered. Not to mention the fact that holy day leaves your opponent's creatures tapped. And the fact that a giant growth still allows the targeted creature to attack.

Stalls for a turn against a weenie deck AND Lightning Bolts their creatures. So flavorful it hurts, and can easily grant a tempo advantage, too.
Love it.

I think 3/5 is about right. Won't stop the fatty about to kill you unless you hit a little guy, the fog effects leave you open to attack the enemy well, etc.
IMO Lightning Helix or Bolt for removal and Boros Fury-Shield for fatties. This guy is just inbetween too many good cards. It'd be an excellent card in other colors I imagine; such as black red. "Terrifying Bolt" or some such.

@DoragonShinzui
As we approach the enemy planeswalker, the others seem to hesitate. I do not blame them. Already the 'walker had taken out half of our forces, and I could now see he was poised to strike again. Even I had to take a step back as I realized the mage had already begun casting a spell, causing the clouds above us to grow darker. The fools behind me fled, leaving me as the sole target for the 'walker. In a moment, my entire body shook violently, knocking me to the ground. As I struggled to stand, I heard the others fleeing in panic. None of them would deal with the 'walker today. But I knew. The mage had spent too much energy on the spell, and his frightened face told me he had no further tricks. I had an opening. I might not get another. I charged.
