I will never understand why this wasn't a mythic rare.
He is devastating enough in limited to be mythic, and being the only card in the game that refers to players losing is unique enough to warrant mythic status.

So far I have 2 in my arch enemy deck, he was meant for arch enemy without question. He is one of the nastiest creatures in the game, and you don't need life gain in the deck, not in a none-archenemy either, as the trample means you'll gladly pay the 1 life each turn to pump him up.
Put a whispersilk cloak on him and watch the opposition despair.

I love this one. WHEN someone decides to pacifism him or something along those lines, i just let him grow and finally feed him to Xathrid demon. Yay.

Good lord! This is pretty brutal even in a normal game, but I think about the five or six man multiplayer games that go on and I start to feel a little dizzy...

Gako you are correct that he is mainly a multiplayer battle, and since his effect is dealing with you too, you are incorrect about his +1/+1 gain, he truely gets +2/+2 counters every turn on a 1 on 1 battle, since he is sucking out your life in the process, if you can give him shroud after you pump him up or make him indestrucible, you have a powerful card, and also, your biggest problem is the fact that he life sucks you too, so you need to worry about how to make sure you either gain, or at least nulled the effect of this for you...i have figured out, that, if you play a 4 color deck, that excludes green, you can use recombant bliss on your opponents monsters this not only leave him wide open for attack, but you also will not worry about blodd tyrant's ability to life suck you while he gains 2 atk and power every of your upkeep, so he just gets bigger and bigger and you can make sure your oppent looses life while you dish out additional damage...

I remember pulling this card from a 6 card pack and thinking, "Wow! Lucky!", but at the time I wasn't very into playing multi color decks, so it just stayed in my binder for awhile......never mind now! Excellent card, even if you are losing life in the process, that can be fixed if need be.
I almost lost a game playing this card though b/c it was Pacified and so being unable to attack and stuff just turned that card against me. Caution to every player that uses Blood Tyrant that you should consider killing off your own Blood Tyrant if something like that happens.
This card is kinda neat to combo with Wound Reflection

I would say he is a fun card in commander, but otherwise color me unimpressed. A seven coster in three colors with no way to avoid removal is pretty harsh. The first person you go after with this is probably going to kill it dead instantly. Yes, you can drop an enchantment on him to give him shroud (or better yet, a nice pair of boots) but the same can be said of almost any creature.
The fact is, this creature requires a large investment in a specific kind of deck, and he is as fragile as they come. (Okay, he is black, that affords SOME protection) That doesn't mean he isn't a cool flavorful card, because he is, but I am not convinced he is good outside of some very casual play where any big stick can really be used.

although the second effect is definitively multiplayer-only (possibly the first card to show it that clearly),
i guess there will be a bunch of gloating players putting the counters on this card before clearing the table in casual games^^
