One of the two main cards in my standard esper deck. use master transmuterto put him into play easily and swiftly for a fast win. if i dont have him, transmute into a sphinx summoner and fetch him. great card, really.

A new player wouldn't be confused by the name 'Darksteel Colossus'. Its sounds like a typical, generic fantasy monster.
Counsel of the Soratami on the other hand is too specific to the Kamigawa, and new players would not get it.

The poor guy just got utterly obliterated at the colorless 11 mana slot by Ulamog, the Infinity Gyre.
The only thing that really matters for ulamog is the "destroy permanent". Annihilator is really overrated; by the time you can actually get ulamog into play and THEN attack the next turn (no haste lol), your opponent will just sac lands or fodder creatures, and then ulamog gets chump blocked. If your opponent doesn't have enough lands or fodder creatures to sac, then your board position is so godly it doesn't even matter whether you had ulamog or DSC. Plus, ulamog's ETB vindicate doesn't work if you cheat it into play; you have to hardcast it, and at 11 mana glhf with that.
DSC isn't that awesome either, at least in standard/extended, since if you wanted to cheat a fattie into play progenitus/iona/etc are probably better options. Against ulamog it's still probably better, since DSC is likely to win the game when it attacks, since its trample means it doesn't get chump blocked ... (see all)

However, unlike ulamog, you can get darksteel colossus on 2nd turn. By simply casting a 0 drop spellbook first turn and a lanowar elves. then next turn drop your second land and tinker into this guy.
Better yet. if you have the money to get chrome moxxes then you can get him out on turn 1. by mearly imprinting 3 chrome moxes 1st turn tapping them for mana and sacrificing one of the chrome moxes for the tinker you get a turn 1 drop Darksteel colossus.

can you have this guy hit the gy the while his shuffle ability is on the stack activate master transmuter bouncing sharuum to return him to play?
(yes I know it's easier to just use the master to put him into play I'm just curious)
