This is a bad card, but it's still a fairly interesting card for newbies who don't have more efficient ways to do direct damage outside of red. It'd be nice if they printed a better version in a core set, however. Kind of like what they did with the lucky charms.

More like Rod of FAIL.
It would have been usable if it was even 2 mana to deal one damage. But costing 3 and having to tap it is a complete waste of a card. Sadly, I think this card used to not have to tap and was praised a lot more than it is now. Ah well, as it currently stands, a fail card, and 95% of the time, not worth putting in your deck.

Nice observation on the quotes.
I remember when I saw Undermine and Desertion in my binder match up.
This card is a bit too pricey for my tastes.

whomever rated above 1 either didnt consider the usefulness of this card, or considered its usefulness a little too much.

Compare to Razorfin Hunter, Cunning Sparkmage, or Gelectrode.

Why did they not print this in M11!?!?
this card is so bad it's funny, but unlike other, worse cards, it's stayed
but i suppose we're tired of the gag, good riddence

@Fert12334
I would hope you're comparing RoR's crappiness to the greatness of the cards you linked, though it really can't compare.

I hate this card. I hate this card for being bad but not being bad enough to be funny. I got so sick of seeing this card at my local card store I took them all and made a collection to see how many I could get. I am currently at 39. I seem to find one every time I visit. That makes be hate them even more. Rod of Ruin is the locust of the Magic world... no one wants it but it won't go away.
