Now Tolarian Academy and Gaea's Cradle are even more ridiculous.

For the casual gamer, this guy goes with Cloudpost & Glimmerpost to form the best land based mana ramp Magic has to offer. I've spit out Ulamog's Crusher on turn 4, while gaining 6 life in the process (thats from dropping lands, crazy) spit out Artisan of Kozilek after they Doom Blade the Crusher and watch them cringe when both come out.
Personally love all of that in red, because one cost burns next to x-burns go really well with the deck, & I also happen to like having an Iron Myr beating on my friends with a trigon of rage while they hold onto control in fear of the eldrazi, but the deck works in any number of colors.
White seems like it could offer a whole lot, with Martial Coup & White Sun's Zenith as other finishers.

I find it useful to both turn on metalcraft while I need it (as I type this both Zen and Scars are in standard) and then fetch me Contested War Zone after all of my Squadron Hawks have hit the board >:-)
Land definitely matters, and this card will show you why.

No one has mentioned that this is a Trinket Mage target. I run one Expedition Map along with three Trinket Mages and that allows my Mages to fetch up any land in my deck in addition to their regular targets. Usually my Mages will either fetch a Darksteel Axe if I already have a creature in play, or if I'm in need of a creature they'll fetch an Inkmoth Nexus or a Creeping Tar Pit via Expedition Map. Alternately, they can fetch an Elixir if I'm hurting for life, Chalice if I need mana ramp, or Effigy if I need removal. The only thing that was really missing was being able to fetch creatures, but the Map enables that nicely.

The tapping is not redundant. There are plenty of cards that prevent things from untapping(e.g.Rust Tick, or even punish you for tapping (e.g. Relic Putrescence), during your turn.
Rare, yes. Redundant, no.

I fall into the group of players who only just noticed that it can 'tutor' any land. I now think this card is very awesome and flavourful -especially awesome for me because I only have single copies of rare lands like Valakut, the Molten Pinnacle.

Just discovered it while going through some artifacts, and read "LAND" and said it was like serendipity. good in just about every edh deck.
Wait a few turns, grab just about anything you need maze of ith, gaea's cradle, serra's sanctum, you name it and you can set yourself up.
